Add Water & Stir, is a 15-20 minute dance/theatre collaboration with six performers and artistic direction by Brigette Dunn-Korpela that will premier May 4-6, 2017 at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles, CA. This project is facilitated by Dance Resource Center's Homegrown @ Bootleg Series. A program that supports emerging choreographers in the L.A area promote and produce their work to larger audiences. Add Water & Stir seeks to investigate the hyper-normalization of human apathy and sanitized violence. This work is in direct response to the current social climate of increased human indifference, deafening silence of human compassion and political lunacy. Movement investigations are athletically charged rooted in contemporary modern dance vocabulary. Creative research is influenced by Brutalist aesthetics, American and European 1940-50’s mass media culture and German expressionism. It is the hope of this work to observe the parallels in recent history where human indifference was normalized and sanitized.
